LNB Amplifier Any Good??

Hope everyone out there is well?????

I am about to install my FOX SAT Humax and wondered if it will improve the HD picture if I install a LNB amplifier in line.

I see these advertised at 20dbs and wondered am I wasting my time or will it improve the picture. Sometimes I think extra filters can sometimes degrade a picture??? This amplifier fits in line with your cable from the LNB to receiver unit.

Another query please...Is it worth getting as large a digital aeriel as possible when installing for digital TV or can an over sized aeriel pick up a lot of noise and make a picture worse??

I want to get as best quality picture as possible.

LNB amps are designed,and should only be used to account for signal losses on long cable runs,by long i mean 40+metre's,but even then going up a dish size will usually yield better results than an amplifier.

I want to get as best quality picture as possibleUsing an large multi-element/high gain aerial in a good signal area,where a 10 element contractors may suffice could actually lead to over-gain(to much signal) and can cause similar symptons to what you see in a weak signal area, i.e picture blocking and freezing and sound pops and cracks.

The best gauge to what type of aerial you need,(if you dont have access to signal meters etc) is to have a look around at your neighbours aerials and get something similar.
