I've read about Tandberg and Electrocompaniet and wondered why no one ever mentions Tandberg. Both respectable Norwegian companies.

I think the brand is now owned by a German company

The brand was bought by one of the big communication/internet giants and used to brand teleconferencing and some peripheral equipment.

According to Wikki, it ceased to exist as an entity around 2010.

The interesting period from a hi-fi perspective was the 60s and 70s. It's primary business was tape recorders, serious commercial stuff as well as hi-fi and 'hobbiest'. It was somewhat off the pace when Revox introduced the G36 and A77 models so tried to diversify into hifi components, with a little success in the early years. Not that popular in the UK though.
