Apologies if this has been asked before or comes across as a daft question ,but I have aquired FOC a JBL 5-1 surround sound system without speaker wire and am hoping to set it up shortly in my living room and was wondering about the length of speaker wires required to the front 3 speakers , the back 2 speakers and to the front sub.???

Are the wire lengths to each speaker ALL the same or are the front 3 speaker wire lengths different to the 2 rear ones etc??? and should the sub have a different length of wire altogether????

Thanks in advance for any advice

i always try to keep front 3 same length and then the rears the same length - in most set ups the rear lengths will be a lot longer.

sure it prob makes no difference what the length over such short distances

It makes no difference unless you live in Buck House and the distances are HUGE. I have my fronts the same length but no way would I have metres of cable coiled up for the sake of it. I have enough of a snakes wedding behind my AV rack as it is.

Your amp should work out the necessary delays automatically, so the speaker cable lengths should only be an issue if you use your amp in an audio direct mode which bypasses all the EQ settings.

Personally, only my front L&R speakers have the same lengths and I tend to listen to surround music with the Z7's EQ settings off and I can't notice any issues.
