Hi,
After A LOT of deliberation and head scratching I'm 99% sure that the best panel for me is the 32" Panasonic HD Ready TX-32LXD85 (i have a small lounge). At this size im confident 1080p signals de scaled to 720p will still look very, if not as, impresive and Standard Definition signals Upscaled to 720p wont suffer as much as they would if up scaled up to 1080p, so i think ths set will offer the best comprimse. It comes with 24p playback which according to the lovely people at WHFSV 'works extremly well' on the TX-32LZ80 and the much trumpeted 100HZ Motion Picture Pro which is important for a me as footy is a big slice of my tv diet.
My only reservation about this set is the absense of x.v Colour handling. Sony describes this as 'an international standard defining a colour range for moving images approximately twice that of sRGB'.
Sony also say inrelation to its soon to be released W400 range of LCD'S. 'The Series also supports the extended xvYCC colour space6 for moving images -set to replace sRGB as the industry standard. Implemented under the brandname x.v.Colour, this feature gives BRAVIA W4000-Series televisions the ability to display content recorded on very new digital camcorders that use xvYCC. In the future, as xvYCC colour becomes widely used within the broadcast industry, the BRAVIA W4000-Series will be ready.as xvYCC colour becomes widely used within the broadcast industry, the BRAVIA W4000-Series will be ready.'
Its the bit about xvYCC becoming widely used in the broadcast industry that concerns me, I reckon all things considered this set should last me at least 5 years but i dont want to be stuck with a tv only capable of showing sRGB broadcasts when i could be watching the same in xv colour.
Or is it something thats just not worth worying about??
Feedback from anyone on this would be greatley appreciated.
