Just about to get rid of 50inch Sony LCD DLP in favour of either a new 46-50 inch LCD or Plasma..........that's the question really, LCD or Plasma? I want full HD and if possible the abilitiy to wall mount. Not interested in Freesat.

Any advice would be welcome!

It's a harder question to answer than you might think. If you look closely you'll see all the majors have at least 3 TV's at each size sometimes more. So you need to decide high end or budget then decide Plasma or LCD. IMHO. If It was mee looking for a 50 inch I'd go high end plasma without a doubt and probably Pioneer.

What's the budget? Viewing distance?

What do you use it for? SD, BluRay, gaming...

See if you can buy the discontinued Pioneer PDP-508XD for under £1500. Even though it is 720p the blacks are amazing and you won't lose any detail from 720p at that distance. And if you can't find that, try out the Panasonic TH-46PZ81B, which is £1400. It won't be able to do blacks as well as the Pioneer though but since it is 1080p you can sit a bit closer.

Both available in 46" and 50" sizes and cheaper than the 81.

Yeah, but since the TH-46PZ81B is newer, it probably has better picture quality.ÿ
