Latest Codecs and 5.1/7.1

Hi, first post, i hope someone can help.

I have just purchased the Onkyo 606, very impressed.

I currently have a 5.1 kef speaker set up.

I plan to use a PS3 in the short term for Blue ray/Dvd, will this lot give me some latest HD audio? such as DTS-HD Master Audio/True HD etc, and would there be some indication on the receiver display of the type of audio playing?

Not on the receiver display, no - the PS3 decodes the HD sound formats internally and outputs them to the receiver as multichannel Linear PCM. But the results sound just as good as direct streaming for decoding in the receiver, and there is a school of thought that it's better to have the soundtracks 'unzipped' in the player, rather than transmitted as a bitstream and decoded offboard.
