So, another excellent afternoon at KEF HQ with Ron Locke, auditioning even more speakers with Blu Ray, dvd and cds

Final choice is

Q500 Front Left and Right

Q200 Centre

T305 Surround Rears

and maybe a Q100 for the dining/family room on the end of the Cambridge One

Must say though, the Q700s are calling my name.................I have a week before I can order (got to sell stuff to buy stuff), so the temptation may be to great!!

BTW, noticed that my signature box is no longer there, is that just a function of the new site

Great choice!!! Did you compare the Q700's with the Q500's on the day? If so, how did you find them in comparison to the Q500's?

PP1

Loved the 700s, they struck me as "grown up" 500s, just a little more of everything!!

Spoke at length to Ron (KEF expert) who was confident that the Q200 would work well with the 700s even though there was a difference in the Uni-Q drivers (160 to 135mm), quite insistent that the Centre speaker was designed in to suit both 500 and 700

And the stereo performance of both was mind boggling in terms of detail, separation and imaging..............however we mostly use our set up for movies so not quite so important in stereo

But it did bring back distant memories of an early KEF 7 series on the end of my Audiolab and Linn LP12/Ittok and OC9 cartridge!

Ah, those were the days

I have the Q700s and the Q200 centre and I think they work well together. I agree the Q600 would have been better but it was just too big for me.

I am not sure the difference in Uni-Q drivers is too much of a problem as that has to happen for people with the Q900s

Hi,

Your sig was 'lost' in the transition to the new site software - just re-do it.

Glad you had an enjoyable experience with KEF. If you want the 700's, get the 700's. There will be nothing worse than buying the 500's then regretting it once set up.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Mr Mellie

I haven't heard any issues in the demo with front speaker integration and tonal balance, have you noticed anything at all?
