Just wondering if anyone owns/heard these? Recent Darko video (retirement system) caught my attention …. they also seem to be available new for under £4k (think they were £6k on release). Reviews all mostly glowing.

Not sure if I’d have the courage to throw all of my boxes out and replace with just speakers…… ?

Wireless speakers aren’t as good as wired speakers but if you want to try here is a good deal:

Any all-in=one system is a risk, repair-wise. Once you've come to terms with that, this may be one of hi-fi's best kept secrets, budget allowing, And it does represent great value, considering the power on hand, Some will scoff at its lack of deep level room correction though, although middling adjustments are available such as close-to-wall settings etc.

Wow - great price! Only dipping my toe in at the moment as I’ve recently upgraded my network streamer and would obviously not need any other kit with the KEFs.

I’m a bit puzzled by the recent price drops. Your link shows a huge price drop since they were first released. Is no one buying them, I wonder? If so, this doesn’t match the reviews which tend to be glowing. Darko appears to love them, and in another that I’ve read, the reviewer appears to prefer them to his active Elac Navis floor standers - I use the Elac Navis stand mounts, and they are very, very good.

At some point, I’m sure I’ll have to give them a listen. Maybe before KEF discontinue making them……, ?

I am sure that I wouldn't - because I value (and have paid for) perfectly good boxes.

Apart from any anti-clutter aspect, one-box systems make more sense for those starting out with nothing.
Even then, as mentioned above, any necessary repair is likely to have more inconvenient and expensive consequences.

Then there's the question of longevity.
My passive speakers, for example, had a 20 year guarantee and I regard 20 years as an absolute minimum life for my hifi separates.
Can you imagine anything with built-in streaming lasting (and working as intended) for 20 years?

I have had the Kef LS50 wireless and they got 5 star reviews but I personally didn’t like them. I also had the B&W Formation Duo wireless speakers but sold them too.

£3500 is still a lot of money, if it was me I would go for this deal and see what you think to these speakers:

6 year warranty and Peter Tyson are great to deal with.

Found a better deal on the Kef LS60 wireless here:

Just a 2 year warranty though.

And poor condition!

They have a plethora of inputs (digital and analogue) so it wouldn't be much of a hardship to plug a cheap up-to-date streamer into them should the integrated streaming get deprecated.

Yes, I would expect something of that price to still be useable, even if not as originally intended.

I would consider making use of their provided inputs originally intended personally!

I'm sure there must even be some perverts out there using the Kef's analogue inputs to connect turntables...

They were reduced from the launch price of six grand after a few months, and it looks like £4,500 is staying as the RRP.

I heard them a year ago at a KEF demo, alongside Blade 2 powered by the then new Hegel H600 integrated amp. FWIW I preferred the LS60.

I have previously owned the original LS50 and am generally predisposed towards the KEF engineering and accuracy led approach. My only misgivings would be the incidence of mysterious driver damage which seems inevitable given the exposed design and the actual driver construction.

That said, to my ears they sound great, and are versatile as to room placement thanks to the KEF app that can adjust the sound. I would assume that over time the inbuilt streaming would cease to update, similar to the way ‘smart’ TVs do. But since there are other inputs I’d be content to use a streamer or analogue source.

On balance, for my use, I would probably choose a used pair of ATC SCM40 actives, that typically sell for around £5k. But had I not got legacy products like CD players I’d love the KEFs.
