KDL40W-4500 Optical socket

Has anyone had any problems with this socket? I've plugged the optical cable in the socket but can not get it back out again, it just doesn't wanna budge. Am I missing something? Is there a catch release somewhere? I don't wanna tug on it too much and end up knackering the socket altogether.

The socket had a (dust?) cover on it right? I wasn't supposed to remove that before I plugged in the cable? It went in ok, just doesn't wanna come out again!

The optical cable should just be a push fit, and should pull out again if you pull on the plug. No release catch, it just snaps in and snaps out.

Phew, needed a firm tug but came out. I guess it's the cable rather than the socket. The connector has a very prominent lug on it.
