If your system is harsh to your ears changing the cd player will not reallly change the sound too much. I will support other sentiments on the post suggesting you look at the speaker or the amp or both. Just make sure you demo extensivly and avoid dissapointment.

I couldn't agree more. The very last thing the Arcam CD93 is, is harsh.
