building a second system with my old tv sony kdls40a12 need a hd amp thats cheap.got another sony bdp 350 for £170 so if it could do all the decoding that would be a bonus.any ideas? remember think cheap
I would suggest the sony DG820, selling for around 219 to 229, this can decode the new Hd formats froms the 350 or it's cheaper sibbling the DG520, which canonly accept LPCM, so you have to get your blu ray player to do the decoding (altough the 350 does not yet decode DTS HD MA yet).
Any end of line amp, like a 605 for example, with your spec should do the job. There's one on ebay at the mo for 150 quid or so, but it's got 3 days to run.
No the 820 decodes all the new lossless sound tracks.
Its the bdp350, that can't yet decode DTS HD MA (only that - all others covered and firmware update promised by sony should solve in the future) and output as a LPCM for something like the 520 to accept.
The bdp350 can output all the new codecs as as bitstream though, so the 820 would be a perfect partner, WHF gives it 5 stars.
