ITV HD is now ITV1 HD

So,SWMBO was watching Martin Clunes on ITV HD tonight,and she noticed the DOG had changed to ITV1 HD.

The Placeholder CAP has now also changed

Not really sure of the point of the name change, unless of course this means ITV is gonna start simulcasting and make ITV1 HD a full time channel......Though i'd say that's very doubtful,on satellite at least.

Potentially planning for a future ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD... doubtful in the short term, but maybe long term?

Possibly in the very long term!!!

Since on Freeview there is no capacity left on the one mux thats been converted to T2 MPEG-4 for any additional channels.So would mean converting more mux's.

Again on satellite there's no room on Astra 2D for more HD channels so would mean having to broadcast extra channels from one of the other satellites behind encryption, meaning it would only be available on SKY.

I think it's most likely that ITV1 will go simulcast on a different channel. I think we were conscious at the time that red button wasn't the ideal solution...
