Issue with Diamond 10.1 speakers

I just received these speakers, they have four inputs each (2 extra ones for bi-wiring, according to the manual). If I hook my speaker cables up to the two bottom inputs, they output only bass (not pure bass like a woofer but a little mid as well). If I hook the cables to the two top ones they output only treble. First I thought it must be the amp that I hadn't used in a while but I tested with two others and get the same result. I listened to a CD player and an iPod, same result. So I basically narrowed the issue down to the speakers.

My amp has outputs for A and B speakers. If I wire both the A and B in to the Diamonds then the sound is very good, as I guess it should be. I didn't think of doing this until a few days after I got them cause I find it hard to believe I HAVE to bi-wire these speakers. Not even sure if this is proper bi-wiring? I'm happy with the way things are now but I don't think this is normal.

Anyone know what could be up with these speakers?

Manual says to just connect on the bottom terminals, which is what I
did. But this outputs just bass and a little mid (really not being picky about the sound, it's plain awful and worse than 5W computer speakers).

For bi-wiring the manual says to connect top and bottom terminals and only then is the sound ok. Bi-wiring should never be a requirement for good sound; not even sure if using A + B outputs on an amp is "proper" bi-wiring?

Did I get faulty speakers?

sounds like your not using the jumpers, or your speakers havent come with any. cut and trim a small length of speaker cable and run this between the hf and lf terminals, ie 2 per speaker.

That's what those things are for! They were on the speakers when I unboxed them, didn't realise I had to put them back on ... BlueBrazil thanks v much, all working fine now 😀
