I have been saving some money for an Ortfon Black for quite sometime, guess a pretty obvious upgrade from current blue (well there is actually nothing wrong with it, serving me well for a good 5 years).
Recently I visited a friend's house who had mounted his floor standers on IsoAcoustics GAIAs. I never actually thought much about the isolating solutions but was completely blown away when I heard his speakers. I mean I had heard them before but this time, it sounded like it something completely different (in a good way of course). So immediately, I ordered two sets of GAIA 3s for my floor standers which are yet to arrive and obviously, they took a big chunk out of my allocated fund for the cartridge.
Now I have my turntable just sitting on a marble slab on top of a wooden media console. If I dont buy the cartridge at all and add an isolation platform (IsoAcoustics, Pro-ject, there are some options out there), can I expect something a"big" improvement? or should I save up for a few more months and still go for Ortofon Black?
