I've not heard the onkyo in person so can't comment on how well it match with the monitor audio's tonally, but having had a quick read of the spec and some reviews I don't you think need to worry about the MA's not doing it justice. The RX Silver range may be an 'older' speaker package in that they have been around a few years now, but they're still an extremely good one that will be quite capable of handling the onkyo's output.
Twin subs sounds nice! :)

Yup, should work well.

Out of interest, why do you pose questions wanting a reply ASAP & not coming back to post your thoughts in the same thread, to the responses we give you? It's got to be a two-way street if you want answers that help your needs, and not just our opinions.

Hello markyboy156,
I had to read through your single-sentence paragraph at least thrice to be sure that I understood it; the full stop seems to be really going out of style!
I found this review of your proposed subwoofer http://www.whathifi.com/Review/Monitor-Audio-RS-W12/. I don't know how big your room is, but two of those should sound seriously impressive. In my bedroom I have twin subwoofers (that are not as good as the RS-W12), which, because of space limitations, I use as stands for the front pair of speakers, though those front speakers are 90cm high. You may also want to experiment with various positions of the subwoofers, front and rear, front left and front right, also both in front but one subwoofer closer to the corner of the room than the other subwoofer.

hi mr malarky they are the old rs series speakers not rx series speakers?

apologies, mis-red that. Think the RS series are the earlier version of the RX and a look at the monitor audio website suggests the RS series are only 5w below the RX series in terms of power handling.

The WHF review of the onkyo suggests a 'realistic' power output of 145w per channel, and the FAQ on MA's website suggests their speakers are ok with amps rated up to 50w higher than the rating of the speaker (the RS are rated at 120w), so provided your not driving the amp at max volume (which would be pretty unusual and generally not recommended anyway) you should be ok:
