Is it wrong to place a sub behind a chair?

Is it wrong to place a sub behind a chair? I'm trying to keep the peace by not attempting to put a sub in the middle of the living room. They're non-directional so if it sounds ok, would it be ok to put it in the corner behind an armchair even if it was pretty much totally boxed in? If this was where it was going, would a FF or a DF sub be better? (Or would it not make any difference?)

Cheers,

Tim

Timbot I use my sub in a corner, it is a front firing one and it fires out between a speaker stand and the settee it is a closed style and does not boom. It costs £800 and sounds great with music and movies.

A sub will work more efficiently in a corner, but you can place it anywhere you like as long as it works....by works I mean works in that position - I wasn't being funny about it actually working

Hi Tim

where ever you place your sub you can always eq if its not sounding too well, by that I mean use something like an Antimode or some other sub eq device.

My own MK 350`s are placed in the corners and actually turned round so they face inwall, both controlled by Antimode and if I say so myself sound amazing.

And if its for WAF purposes then why not

My sub is on a shelf up inside the inglenook - totally out of sight but still sounds good !

My sub is tucked in a corner with a sofa the other side. I think the sound is brilliant but it did take a while tweaking the volume/crossover to get it right.

There's perhaps a gap in the market here, for a sub specific rucksack

Mine is in the corner behind a chair, sounds excellent and the Mrs doesn't complain as it can't be seen.

As the saying goes... "that's what I'm talking about"... !
