Is calibrating TVs Dead?

I'll take that with a pinch of salt. If calibration can be done in the factory without taking home viewing conditions into account, why don't other manufacturers do it? Historically, LG is least bothered about calibration and just wants to sell TVs.

Every other reviewer said that your OLED is better than the one reviewed, except this one reviewer.

Why? Are all TVs being sold nowadays 4K OLEDs?
No, but the TVs that AV enthusiastics will be buying is 4K OLEDs from now on, and they are the people who pay for their TVs to be calibrated.

It's impossible to auto calibrate a tv at the factory because of numerous conditions in different countries, homes etc.

even the auto calibration on av receivers don't actually fit every condition, there is still a need to tweak the settings to get the best sound for your environment. This is the same as the picture qaulity, it will always need tweaking.

im sure if you had your OLED calibrated, you would be pleased with the end result Gel. I suppose in your case; what you don't have, you don't miss...

i remember you saying the same things before you had your VT calibrated, and after you did, it was the best thing since sliced bread :)

I will give it to LG, they market OLED very well. I think I made a mistake Gel, I should have listened to you then & gone for your model. The 930 to me was useless.
What was wrong with your 930 again? Cheers

I personally found the pictures a bit soft. some said the pictures were sharp but not in my experience. Also I tried 3 930's but still did not cut it for me. Blur issues. Errors when going online. Lack of detail in dark sences.

Yep, I have seen blurring issues on the set I have demoed and a lot of picture noise too. I have also seen green tint in the picture, but I have seen good things too, it is a difficult one. Cheers.

No they won't soon be out of business, and even that were to become the case we are talking about only six people - Canary Jules, Steve Withers, Vincent Teoh, Mark Hodgkinson, Gordon Fraser and Steve (Bumptious). Hardly likely to headline the six-o-clock news "Unemployment has increased by six people!".

Well, I'm sure they'd feel much better that it's only six of them looking for a new career...

You're right, doesn't sound like that needs calibrating at all!

I am not sure calibrating it would fix that. I have heard after calibration the green tint still remains. I think it could be source related these issues. Because on some sources I have seen great picture but on normal TV the issues become apparent. Steve Withers from AV Forums said the picture out of box was fanastic though for this TV.
