ive just seen a blu ray player advertised on asda direct site at £110
it also says in the specs it is hd-dvd compatable,
anyone know anything about this player it is called
curtis blu ray player, ive never heard of them just curios

Can only find stuff regarding their US models (most scores are 3/5) but IMHO the HD-DVD bit is more than likely a mistake.

Would be interested to see how WHSAV would score it but think it may be in a simular boat to the BUSH players that were out not too long ago.

Here in Norway, where it's notoriously expensive, one can get a "United" brand BluRay player for the princely sum of £77. I can't see it being too many months before we see a £50 unit, so it can't be too far away in the UK too.

Why would you even contemplate getting a player that is un-tested and unheard of, frankly? That is really odd considering you are here on this forum!

Spend an extra £29.95 and get a Sony BDPS350 from Richer sounds, or better, a Panasonic DMP-BD35 at an extra £43.95. Both are excellent 5 star products which you will be proud to own.

hi evilwolf i have a panasonic dmp bd 35 but i was curious about this player
as in asdas specs it said it was also hd-dvd compatible
and would be handy to have if this was true..

I'm with EvilWolf on this one.
Better stick with the tried & trusted names, I went for the Sony 350.
I'm guessing that Asda are mixing up HD-DVD with HD audio perhaps?

The only dual format I've ever come across is an LG model, still on sale in Norway for some reason, with a not so reasonable price tag of £500.
No BD live facility either, so it's a bit of a dead duck unless you can source really cheap HD films somewhere . . . .
