It all boils down to taste. To me I thought Gravity was rubbish. Interstellar to me was just an amazing film. Far fectched, but enjoyed every moment. Thats why its called a Sci fi movie..?

With Sandra in those shorts, all is forgiven.
And her boobs sticking out.

Terminator 2 is proof that stupid stories and poor actors (aww, love you Schwarzy) can be turned into a great (legendary) film. T2 also prooved that sequals can be better than the first film. It's not the elements, but the whole product that matters.

Total recall similar story. Terrible elements, but hugely entertaining flick. Doesn't take itself seriosly like Odyssey 2001, and that made me comfy watching three boob chick as a viable mutant variation due to lack of commercially traded oxygen by a corrupted mayor of a planet. And how can you not love Johnny Cab?!

Now take Will Smith (I am legend, the guy that makes blockbusters out of anything, the golden boy) and his son teamed up for the first time, post-apocalyptic sci-fi scenery, huge money, huge producer... and yet it ended up like poop. Go figure.

I really enjoyed Interstellar because of two things:

1) I watched a review (by Mark Kermode) first and I knew I need to be ready and in the mood to watch this movie, so I took my time.?

2) I am an Arthur C. Clark fan so this type of sc-fi appeals to me, even though it was a bit too family/cry baby cry for my taste. But I don't have kids so that one is on me.

Will I watch it 100 times like Odyssey 2001? No.?

T2 is not better than Terminater, not even close.

Mention Predetor not Total Recall when you talk of the Schwarz....

No mood can prepare you for Intastella. It's an aggravating film with too many holes in the plot and uncompleted 'strands' and the special effects were........

Ouch.....I think thinking about is giving me arthritis in my knees.....

Let me stop....

If you think Terminator 2 was worse than Terminator 1, then we have greatly different tastes..... *scratch_one-s_head*

It's what makes the world go round.

T1 is far superior to T2 on so many levels that's why it is the classic.

It belongs up there with Alien, The Thing, Blade Runner and Enter the Dragon has a stand out moment in cinema...... Film that make you go wow!.

Fully developed story all characters fully fleshed out and enough fiction (with a hint of it could happen) to keep us talking about the idea of it for decades.

Arnold's vanity ruined the series/franchise.

The first time those words 'I'll be back' left his mouth was a 'moment'

The concept of the time loop created in T1 was genius - that idea of AI eventually taking over..... It's a bonified classic.

T2 was a watered down money maker - at no point does it give you a jolt - not like 'Sarah Conner?' bang bang bang!

Naaah, you tell me how you can come to the conclusion T2 is better bigboss?

My goodness - what a load of tripe.

The film was so bad it gave me chronic man flu.

I'll wait till the who ah has died down where we can discus it without giving away spoilers.....but watch it let me know if you can think of a worse film.

This explains a lot to me.

Seriously?

Honestly this film is so rubbish just thinking about it this morning gave me indigestion..... I had Weetabix for crying out loud.

People hurry up and watch it.....

Yes, Seriously.

I thought it was a magnificent film. It just requires some logical creative thinking. A work of art I would say.

It explains your lack of logic in Hifi arguments. Not that it's a bad thing, the world needs allsorts of people to function.

What!?

Requires logical what?

People watch this movie, make sure you have coffee and some Renee near by -we'll discus it next week.

T2 is a more muscular, robust, refined machine that hews away from the horror film aesthetic of the original and transforms it into something bigger, badder, and much more thrilling. No wonder it made much more money than T1.

I can almost smell the stinks from cuban cigars in the Santa Monica cafe when they thought of the story for T1.

A human-looking indestructible cyborg is sent from 2029 to 1984 to assassinate a waitress, whose unborn son will lead humanity in a war against the machines, while a soldier from that war is sent to protect her at all costs.

Robots become sentient and rebel. They send a superior killing cyborg back in time (BACK IN TIME FFS!) to kill a waitress and the waitress wins!

What a genious story!

T2 is superior to T1 because it took a dumb idea and made it entertaining.

That's the thing, T2 was a commercial success built on the foundation set by T1.

In T1 the horror the violence was visceral - the 3 thugs, the police station, Sarah's mother the film was a horror story a nightmare scenario for anyone who crossed this monster from the future. It was brutal.

Vlad, you have to consider the film in the context of its time - PC's were primitive by todays standards , the internet was in its infancy - the story was visionary consider the films conclude that it's actually the internet we should fear.

I don't know how you can even compare the PG, popcorn T2 and the other films in the same league has the original.

The 1st three movies in the Alien saga imo were excellent - I genuinely enjoyed the 3rd movie. It gets better with each viewing.

Those sequals compliment the original well. From resurrection on its down hill.

SPOILER ALERT.

Was it just me or was the film a complete paradox, which simply could never have happened?

Anyhoo, I was actually quite underwhelmed by the sound. I'm all for thunderous bass, but even the mundane events on earth had bass which shook my living room. It just gave me a bit of a headache and by the time the good bits started up, the soundtrack had nothing left to give. For example the shuttle launch was audibly as loud and bassy as the truck driving through a field.

Tried to test and see how well a *SPOILER ALERT* tag works - still read the above.

Who sent back the co-ordinates for the top secret underground government facility in the middle of nowhere?

So conveniently forgotten by the end of the movie!

There's a separate spoiler thread on the film. To answer your question, it was Cooper himself.
