Internet TV and streaming - Mac Mini v Macbook Air v iPad

Hi,

Have been using Macbook connected to AV receiver to view internet TV and music from iTunes. Macbook has died so need to replace.

Am considering using a Mac Mini to simply do this job or alternatively buying a Macbook Air or iPad so I can use as laptop replacement plus using for TV etc when at home. I believe you can use all these for the purpose and for using iPlayer although this cannot be used in HD on the iPad.

Already have a iMac in home office but cannot connect to AV receiver from there.

Any advice much appreciated re these solutions.

One of my thoughts yes, though something with iPlayer embedded (like a Sony BluRay player) might be necessary on top...

Thanks for responses. I could use Apple TV to stream any music and movies downloaded onto my iMac but not sure this would work for iPlayer.

Am I right in thinking that Apple TV would not work for that?
