I was about to buy a PANSONIC TX-L32D25 - as the new TV in our house (its a small house and we have no room for anything larger).

(any recommendations for another TV would be welcome [8-|])

However, what gets me is VieraCast (or Viera Connect) as it is soon going to be. I don't like the idea of Panasonic telling me what i can connect to on the TV. Ok their links and systems to connect to you-tube and picassa are going to be good, but its a bit restrictive. Surely it should allow you to just explore the web, not what it wan't you to connect to.[8o|]

It reminds me a little of some of the early 3G telephones and how some providers only allowed to access its own content - i.e. what it thought you would want to look at.

My question is then this, should i just wait until they all sort out internet enabled TV properly, and make it less restricted - and then buy one ?

Cheers,jon.

Having been interested in web apps for TV's for years (bit geeky but i develop apps for platforms like it) i would say currently they are all a bit disapointing.

The real issue here is the UI a TV has a remote that wont be overtaking a mouse/keyboard anytime soon in usability.

You can get some rather funky USB keyboard/mouse combos but they are 3rd party addons and cost aditional money and driver support isnt always there.

Anyway - it depends what you want to do - if accessing something like Lovefilm or seeing if its going to snow then your fine but for browsing the web look elsewhere.
