Hello all, been reading all about wires interconnects etc and i have one questionn

my kef speakers are screw tightened at the back so why are interconnects better than bare wire if i could, in theory, get more connectivity by screwing the wire in tight than with having the interconnector screwed in?

or have i misinterpreted it?

thanks people

I have read the previous thread on this, and the obvious benefit of banana plugs is

for easy frequent removal, although I don't see them coming out that often! Bare wires

screwed in are fine, although they will oxidise eventually and will need trimming (don't

ask how often, I'm a biologist not a chemist, but I would say annually) and for the KEF

eggs it's the only thing to do if wall mounted.I have the 2005.1's and use bare ends for

all of them, even the fronts on stands - just looks tidier. You pays your money and takes

your choice!

The dealer that I bought my Kef KHT3005se from the other week also provided the speaker cables all cut to length (and the amp and Blu-ray).

They put banana plus on the amp ends only.

They said that although you could use banana plugs they would stick out the back and be a bit unsightly.

Also the less connections to a wire the better in their opinion.

Maybe this was because I had them sticking to a deal price so less banana plugs better for them?

The way the bare wires are fitted right in behind the eggs makes for a neat finish
