I have some rather old cable. Speaker: QED Silver anniversary bi-wire (but wire to two plugs at the amp end)
Interconnects: 1. QED reference audio 1. And 2. QED qunex 2

My question is , can I use these or do I need new cables? If so what should I buy? I’ll need some new cables anyway as not enough here.
System one: Quad Artera Play+ and Artera Solus Power Amp with SpendorA4
System two: Roksan Attessa amp, Roksan Attessa CDT with Quad S1

Thanks for any advice you can give me

Your cables are perfectly fine.
If you need more than Amazon basics are all you need, however if you want something that looks a bit more professional, then get professional cables that are used in music and film production studios, as they are also reasonably priced, (Van Damme is a popular manufacture) avoid cable produced by Hi-Fi cable manufacturers as they just rip you off blind.

QUAD once demoed with standard orange cable that you use for electric garden tools. They bought it just for a laugh at a DIY store near the show venue and no one noticed it wasn't "audio grade" copper 🙂

(having said that: I recently bought a pair of QED XT40 cables because they looked cool...)

Buying something because you like the look of it is another thing entirely. Some people buy Kimber 8TC because it looks cool. It costs a fortune though. You can get stuff that looks like it on AliExpress for less. Companies like Audioquest and Nordost must be concerned about all the copies of their expensive cables on AliExpress. Some look very realistic.

Couple of differently coloured drums of flexible, single core 2.5mm....and a woman that knows how to plait hair.
40 quid max 👍
Here's some on AliExpress. You can see each separate insulated wire has several different thicknesses of strands in it

It’s a nice looking copy. I wouldn’t fancy terminating it though.

And if one strand wasn’t insulated properly and your amp went up in smoke you’d not get much chance of a refund, let alone compensation!

Very unlikely for there to be a defect like that.

Yes, you can use those cables and see how it sounds. If it sounds good leave well alone. Only change them if you don't like the tonal balance.

Simples.

Shifting speakers or seating position a few centimeters impacts more on sound than changing cables. You'll be fine with what you have. That is not to say that I think cables do not make a difference, it's just comparably small and often not good value.

The faux Nordost cables on AliExpress are really good. I have Valhalla 2's. In terms aesthetics and construction these are of excellent quality.
I'm not going to disturb the hornets nests by mentioning the S word but it will be the icing on the cake if you hear the difference 🙂

All you need is 12 gauge copper cable for speakers. You don't need anything fancy, it wont affect the sound. The audiophile cable market is an absolute racket.
Back when I had a full system with speakers, decades ago, I bought the speaker cables recommended by the dealer. Heavy gauge 79 strand copper, simple, cheap, flat cables. They did the job well.

If you are posting a large link, it is best to click on the link button and add it there, you can them add some text to say what it is, then just click insert, and you have a nice clean link. (A lot of people don't realise this is available to them)

Thanks Bill - Sorted, appreciate your feedback 🙂
