I have active speakers for front L and R and I am about to get a new receiver to taek advantage of the bluray hd sound formats.

One option is to get an integrated receiver and feed C and rears from its amp outputs and the actives from the pre outs.

Another option is to get a processor/pre amp and separate amps for the remaining 3 channels (either a 3 channel power amp or 3 monoblocks).

I think I know what I want for the receiver option. but what are the options (i.e. which products) available for the second configuration.

So, what is there in terms of processors and power amps for the above???

No budget set, trying to understand what is available at this stage.

A combination like, e.g., these ones (the 500s)

And this one

But how much choice is there for thistype of configuration.

I think most of 3-channel power amps and monoblocks came out when people were upgrading their systems from stereo to multichannel during the DVD boom years using incremental approach rather than complete replacements.

What, if anyhting, remains these days?
