Integrated Amplifier suggestions

I like pop & rock music. Currently using Rega Apollo, NAD 355BEE. Recently I have replaced my Paradigm Studio 20 with a brand new Focus Audio FC 7 (Floor stand) speaker.

It could be my perception (Paradigm sensitivity = 92dB, Focus Audio sensitivity = 86 dB) ~ biased with the numbers of sensitivity, I felt that NAD was not capable to drive the new speakers (NAD only offers 80W x 2 Continuous Power into 8 ohms).

Should I look for a more powerful Int Amplifier? If yes, any suggestions?

Just another thought (not sure if it will work) - should I buy a Power amplifier and connect to my current NAD 355BEE Integrated Amplifier? Will it help?

Or if you were me - I'd rather get rid of the NAD and buy a new Integrated Amplifier? My budget would be $1500 USD.

Thanks

I'm not completely sure on this as the NAD C355BEE is a solid powerhouse and shouldnt have any difficulties driving the speakers at all!

I've owned the C355 and the C352 and they could both drive hard speakers well; they have power in reserves and can do well when pushed hard.

If you do feel that you need more power then yes; if youre happy with the current NAD amp and sound then the next best thing would be to add a decent NAD power amp. The NAD C272 would be spot on IMO

Thanks d_a_n1979.

You might be correct. The new Focus Audio FC 7 just came home with me for two days. I will spend another few months to hear if sound improves after run-in. I just feel that the vocal is not as clear as in the store demo, and also I did not get the "explosive" feeling from some heavy metal rock songs.

True..this is a brand new speaker and I should wait :)

Ah definitely!

They could take 100+ hours to run in properly; my M/A RS6's are new and don't sound anywhere as near as good as hey can do; they'll take weeks, if not months to run in properly.

Give them time and then when you think they're properly run in, go from there
