Anyone any opinions on these ? Whilst I simply will not get rid of my KEF Floorstanders, in order to keep the Mrs happy, am considering adding in ceiling / in wall speakers as surrounds. Will they work and integarate with full size fronts & centre ????

Yes they will quite happily. We use the KEF in-ceilings for surround speakers in a large number of systems. Look at the CI-160.2QR ( Q for Uni-Q to match with the fronts ) R for round. As long as you have 100mm clearance you should be fine.

what do they actually sound like though? I'm possibly going to have to be doing this as well (for exactly the same reason!), but I really don't want to compromise too much on the rears if I can help it.

They sound very good, certainly better than 3005/5005 satellites. There is a whole range from budget to high end and there will be a sound that matches your sytem. All of the mid to high end in-walls we supply really perform and if you opt for the bigger ones there is very little sacrifice in sound quality.

The kefs are open backed so the sound will depend on your roof space but even with a huge void they deliver a clear sound with a good amount of bass.

Interesting, are there any dipole in-ceiling surrounds? I like the diffuse soundfield you get from them. I guess the Uni-Q arrangement gives a similar sort of sound?

Speak to wired-life if you're after in-wall/in-ceiling. I got a pair of speakercraft in-walls for my bedroom and they gave me a good deal and advice.
