Agreed re Ron Sexsmith - he's wonderful. Other Songs is probably my favourite of his albums. While we're on the subject of people with 'sex' in their names, Martin Sexton is worth checking out - he supported Martyn Joseph last year and was astonishing. Bit of an acquired taste though.

Thea Gilmore's Loft Music is worth listening too - cover versions including a great version of Ever Fallen in Love.ÿ

Ok, here are my recommendations:
Richard Buckner's 2nd album "Devotion and Doubt" and his 3rd album "Since".
Patty Griffin's "1000 kisses" and "Impossible Dream"

Both are singer/songwriters, you may categorize their music as 'Alt-country'

I'd recommend Farmhouse by Phish, they werent that famous in Europe, but its a great Album.

I'll go with this one, "Meri" by Hei.

Considering this CD-R comes in a roughly hand made package, the music is very polished. I suppose it is somewhat dark and bleak but warm and cosy at the same time, lovely stuff! It's a shame this hasn't had a wider release, as I'm sure it would be appreciated by many.

I am cheating here and possibly sad too but howabout Xanadu - the Album Possibly a cult musical where the 80's meet the 40's - I had a crush on Olivia Newton John, Gene Kelly was his usual gifted dancer/actor plus beaming smile.

Some really cool ELO tracks, ONJ and even Cliff gets in on the act - I loved the 70s/80's transition - what a choice in music style. But this Album I purchased on Vinyl/Cassette/CD and the eventual DVD purchase. I am sad but happy.

granted it was quite big, but through history has been ignored due to nevermind by nirvana and soundgarden and their 1st 'grunge' band to get a major record contract.

a phenomenal album by anyones standards, easily one of the best debut albums.

Chris Cornell was way better in Soundgarden than Audioslave. In Audioslave his voice sounds like it's really struggling to achieve the notes with the aggressive style he uses. Chris, stick to what you know! Viva Soundgarden!

I prefer Mike Patton though, great versatile singer.

really chilled out, very good. Can't remember which one it is, but one of the bands is the singer from L7 doing non-shouty stuff!

Love Is Space by Deva Premal

I am not good at promoting album but this album promote inner peace in me, and has been a "sanctuary" for difficult time in life

Her other album are meditative too but the music is not similar, I don't get bored by a similar hmm what is the exact word? ambience maybe

It`s actually pretty good. There`s a couple of great ELO ballads on there. Some nice ONJ songs and as well as Cliff you`ve even got a guest appearance by the Tubes! Magic!

Used to sing for Tricky. Fantastic female vocalist.

Missed this thread. What a splendid one it is.

Pretty much any of the albums by 'Any Trouble' but if I have to pick one then it'd be Wheels In Motion for the sheer joy of 'Open Fire'. I was lucky enough to finally see them this year at their, AFAIK, only reunion gig in London. What a magical evening that was.

Ought to be a criminal offence just how under appreciated this lot were.
