Hello WHF forum members, I’d really appreciate your help.

My Devialet amp can be configured to drive particular speakers using a system called SAM (Speaker Active Matching). SAM adjusts the amp’s output to optimize bass response and phase alignment. To make speakers SAM-ready, Devialet will measure the characteristics of the speaker and create a digital SAM file.

Devialet will create SAM files for every speaker that receives 50 votes on its website.

I’m asking you to vote for my speakers.

All you need to do is register your vote on the Devialet voteforsam website. You have to give your name and e-mail address and the brand/model of the speaker. (You might receive some Devialet marketing e-mails.)

The website is: http://voteforsam.devialet.com/#

The speaker brand is: MARTIN LOGAN

The speaker model is: MONTIS

Thanks so much for your vote! With your help my speakers will get SAM.

Matt

Call me dull matt49 but is there any point in them developing a SAM profile for any speaker that has any sort of frequency adjustments built into it?

I see where you're coming from.

In fact SAM has two aspects: bass management and phase alignment. The phase alignment affects the full frequency spectrum, so will work on my speakers just like any others.

The bass management will be of less benefit, but the amp will presumably still "see" the speakers as a load (the output to the sub is from the power amp stage) and adjust accordingly.

Cheers,

Matt

EDIT Many thanks to Gazzip, Rick, Doc and Doc's wife!

Ooh, that's interesting! We can vote for more than one speaker per e-mail adres?

You see, I'm having a demo of the LEEDH E2 next week, and it's good to know I'm keeping my options open then! (They have only 7 votes at the moment...)

Many thanks, lpv and PEAYEL.

Yes, they're very fine speakers: the sense of "being there" is remarkable.

Won't they think it's a bit odd, with all these votes coming in at once?

I doubt it. Their main interest is in using the speaker driver software voting, to capture your email address for marketing purposes.

Devialet launched SAM at the Munich High End show this weekend. So lots of votes for lots of speakers will be coming in right now. I don't think Devialet will bat an eyelid.

Anyway, your votes for the Montis are from people who are interested in hi-fi, which is how it should be -- it's not as if I got my family and friends to vote. (No, really, I haven't!)

Many thanks to everyone!
