Hi

I accidentally created another account on this website. I was trying to find my old account for Whathifi forum but I could not find it, so I created a new one. And the when I was about to log in I got back my old account because apparently the forum section on WhatHifi need a seperate account for the same email....and now I have two!!!

I need to get in touch with someone to help me delete my other account!!!

Hello! I guess I´ll message here, I could not find other ways to contact you in a more secluded chanel.

My other account nickname is HobNoobhyfy, this is the one I need to delete.
For future reference, at the top of your screen next to your small identity icon is an icon that looks like an envelope.
You can direct message any forum member from here using an @ symbol before their names.

From admin team:

"Is that a forum account? Because HobNoobhyfy, doesn't exist."

Can you check the spelling please?

@CParsons
No it’s not a forum account. It’s confusing that there is a forum account and another whathifi account. That is why I am in this mess from the beginning.

The spelling is correct. But who should I contact to delete the other account? Or are you (whathifi & whathifi forum) completely separate ”companies”?

It used to be that the forum and the website article comments were connected. This was in the ‘article commentary’ section of the forum. But for some reason you now (in the last couple of months) have to have a dedicated login (not the forum login) if you want to comment on articles on the website. Although the articles still appear on the forum if you comment there it doesn’t appear on the website.

As you may want to do this in the future, and was perhaps why you were prompted to create a new account in the first place, it might be worth keeping it, for now.
No I don’t want another account. It’s confusing, and I am not or will be interested in commenting articles..
I was just trying to find my forum account..

My last comment was slightly incorrect as you can still authorise the website comments to use your forum login. But I just tested by commenting in both the Lindemann Limetree Bridge II review and the forum article and the website comment was not seen in the forum and vice versa. I deleted both after my test.

You may have to try contacting the website directly, but I’m not too optimistic about you getting a response. The editorial, cough cough ‘staff’ never reply to anything on the forum or website.
Well that sucks. Then I think we should be able to hold the responsibles of this forum accountable to solve this within their ”team”. We have the right to remove our accounts and personal information.

Well, I don't work for What Hi Fi. I'm just a volunteer moderator. I have alerted the relevant admin to action.

Yes, the forum and the website are a bit different. The admins manage a large number of different forums under the Future Group.

Are you not able to deactivate the account yourself in your account settings?View attachment 9360

That doesn't delete the account or data though since you can reactivate at will.

I've noticed there are certain posters that do it regularly (their name appears with a strike through if you visit a thread they've previously posted in)

If you wish to delete your commenting account (and not your forums account) you can email dpo@futurenet.com and state that you wish to have your commenting account for WhatHiFi deleted along with the username associated to that account. They will be able to process your request for you. Alternatively, you can also email community@futurenet.com stating the same and we can forward your request.
