While you wait, these Blu-ray discs may tittilate you, specifically for OLED televisions.

All setup! The picture looks amazing but I am having a few problems with the sound, it only works on some channels? The picture is seriously wow though. Can you help me out with the sound? Cheers!

Er sorry, no, and the problem is that you are the only person on the What Hi-Fi forum to have the Panasonic OLED, so you're on your own, alas! Phone call to Mr Wearmouth at Homesound on the morrow .... Glad that the picture is amazing though.

I remember how you used to tell us - repeatedly! - how good the picture on your old LG 55EA980W OLED was, and how black the blacks were. When showing 1080p material, how does this new one compare to the 980W, which was already very good indeed? I don't believe that the black level on the Panasonic can be any deeper than the black level on the old 980W, because that was already absolute zero, so are there other aspects of picture performance where the Panasoic surpasses the LG, for non-4K material? I urge you to curb your usual exaggeration and answer objectively .....

Its amazing, the LG OLED was great, but this is the next step or two. The picture is so clear and the size is great. Just watched my Metallica Glastonbury 2014 on Sky HD and it was fantastic. Motion is fantastic. The picture is so clear with motion. Mad Max on Sky Movies blows me away. The box was huge. Seriously though you got to buy an OLED or even this one its that good! Nick said it blew the flagship Panasonic LED away by about 5 times better.

Yeah, after seeing the size of the box on my Panasonic 65VT65 plasma, I thought as much. Panasonic boxes are over-stating the importance of their contents, just like King Henry the VIII's codpiece.

I'd love a (flat, please) OLED, but probably won't ever be able to afford one in the 75" or 77" size.

What's the model number of the Panasonic LED?

around £7000 for an "old" panasonic oled?? crazy, even for you gel..i assume the g6 from lg this year will be better AND cheaper even on release..

I don't think that the G6 Signature series OLED from LG will be cheaper than Gel's Panasonic 65CZ952B OLED. LG's American website http://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-OLED65G6P-oled-4k-tv suggests $8K for the 65-inch G6, which with dollar - pound equivalence on the prices of anything from jeans to televisions tells me that it will cost £8K in Britain, the same as the Panasonic OLED. No price is offered for the 77-inch G6, so I'm guessing at something like £11,000, way out of my reach.

Gel,

I have a funny problem with my Panasonic GT50. My PS3 is in HDMI 1 and my FreeSat in HDMI 2. Sometimes my FreeSat turns on fine and othertimes I get no display. The way round it is to put it on HDMI 1, turn the FreeSat on then change channel to HDMI 2 and it works. Very strange, but this might be the problem with your Sky if you have Blu-Ray in HDMI 1 and Sky in HDMI 2

Those pics of gel's TV do demonstrate the 'bow tie' effect on the screen. (Normal at each end but 'waisted' or pinched in the middle.)

How close do you need to watch for that to disappear?

Already those pictures look better than most of the stuff Gel posted from the LG.

I kept saying the LG needed calibrating :)

Keep them coming Gel. 65" for 16:9 content is a lovely size even at 12 - 15feet.

However 2:35 / 2.40 content i.e. letter box you really need to sit close I think like 7-8 feet for that screen size. How close do you sit Gel?
