I have a dilemma...

I spoke to Richer at Kingston today. They have a dem room and I would like to listen to the Nad 355BEE and possibly Cambridge 840V2. The problem being is I don't have my A65 and RS6s anymore so I've got nothing to compare them with (not that I'm familiar with anyway). So what do I do?

Any suggestions welcome.

Ta, pp.

Nothing to do but start fresh and judge new systems/components by their own merits.

The only other option is to buy another A65 and a pair of RS6s on ebay just to take to all future demos!

The 2nd option is a no no. If Richer sold standmounters around the same quality as PMC DB1Ss it wouldn't be a problem. But they don't...

Tarquinh:Select your speakers first.

Perhaps not, but they do sell good speakers. You should def listen to the Cabridge/MS Mezzo package deal (saving several hundred quid)...

what was your reason for switching from an Arcam A65+ and RS6 speakers and opting for a cambridge or nad. Knowing what you were looking to improve on may help you decide whether you have found it when you demo new items.

personally speaking i wouldnt have switched from Arcam to either CA or NAD but would look towards a better Arcam or a Roksan for improvements

I sold my A65 and RSs because some time ago when I first thought seriously about upgrading, I told a friend who works at a college in Guildford. Heard nothing more and forgot all about it. Then, out of the blue, the phone goes and this gentleman asked whether I wanted to sell my system (he is a work colleague of our college friend). So I said yes, and he came around a couple of nights later and liked what he heard and bought there and then.

I heard the Caspian and Leema a few weekends ago. The reason for listening to the Nad is because I want to test my own apathy. And while at Richer I might as well take a gander at the 840 (influenced by gerrardasnails), he says it's very similar to the Creek I like so much...

similar, but in my opinion, better as well.

Gerrardasnails:I'm in Purley so if you want to pop over during the day next week, let me know.

That sounds great, Gerrard. Name a day and time and I can work it around my job. Ask Andrew for my email so I can obtain either address or meeting place.

Cheers.

Penned in the date and time and CDP shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you.
