Most of your gears are cater for classical music first, dance 2nd!

They are worth quite a few quids though!

yes what i am a saying is that i can add £2000 to the items i have if they are any good for the music i like or i can sell it all and start again with a budget £4000.

but do you have any thing to offer other then whit ?

hi there Thaiman

so should i sell it all and start again and if so could you tell me what you would buy with the £4000

regards stuart

Not really. I could make a few suggestions though. May I ask how you came about such a system considering your music tastes?

just bought it over time and did not get rid of any of it

regards

Just a quick suggestion for old school dance.

New: Exposure 2010i cd player/Densen Beat 110/Usher 6371

2nd hand: Densen 400 +/ Krell 400Xi/Dynaudio Conture 1.8 Mk2

OK two obvious choices:

Cyrus 8se >> 8vs2 >> B&W 805s >> (edit) + sub

Naim CD5I >> 122x >> 150x >> Neat Motive 2/1

( bartering required on both )

thank you for the info

i was looking for the krell 400xi as i am told it would run anything

regards stuart

how would you upgrade ie would you get the krell and see how it sounds with any of my speakers.

or sell the lot and start a system round the krell 400

regards stuart

ps it would be easy if i get 1 thing at a time

amp first then cd then speaker or any thoughts on that

regards stuart.

1's, though I've not heard the 3's, so take from this what you want.

Kef reference although sound fantastic, the bass respond are not for the Dance's fan. from my memory they roll off around high 40Hz and for that reason you will not feel the impact that needed for old school fans. As for Krell 400 Xi, I am a hugh fan because it's a superb all round. Massive current drive that will accurately start/stop every beat as quick as lighting. It also do emotion side of thing too as the first 20 watts is run in pure class A.

RIGHT SO THE KRELL IS THE AMP TO HAVE HOW ABOUT SPEAKERS AND A CD PLAYER PLEASE

REGARDS STUART

1st hand cd playerÿlike I said look at the Naim or Cyrus for speed and agility. Speakers look at B&W, Neat, Epos and with the Krell, ATC.

If you want a CDP to do some good dance and drum 'n' bass I would start with the Roksan Caspian M series 1 (£1250). Brilliant player and especially good for that kind of thing I reckon. Next step, add the Caspian M series 1 amp (£1000).

In terms of speakers, I would personally go for a decent stand mount with a sub, but many floor standers might suit your taste too. Consider the current offerings from Dynaudio, perhaps the pair reviewed this month in WHFS&V. In terms of stand mounters, check out the offerings from Neat, e.g. Motive 3 (£750), or the Proac Studio 110 (£800), with the B&W PV1 sub (£1000).

You could try B&W floor standers but IMO the bass doesn't cut it.

Naim stuff is very good but a little expensive. The Supernait would give you a good time and you could add a transport (DVD player?) rather than a CDP.

That's the sort of mix I would start with.
