Hey,

I have read a lot of posts on the forum about similar issues, I have managed to narrow it down and it leaves me with a few questions.

I have a Rotel RA-930AX amp and Acoustic Energy Neo One V2 speakers.

At present I have my tv hooked up to the amp via a headphone jack to phono. When plugged into the phono in, the speakers hum, which gets louder as you turn up the amp volume.

Moving the phono cables into the aux in the hum stops.

Two questions:

1) what could be causing the phono in to hum so much

2) I have noticed that the volume is much quieter when the tv is plugged into Aux, Tuner or CD compared with Phono. In phono I'd only need the amp volume up slightly and it was loud, in any of the other inlines i can put the amp volume to max and it's not excessively loud (it was when in phono)

thanks for for all the insight and help

joe

Phono is for turntables. The hum us probably from lack of earth. Yes phono is amplified because TT output is low. TV best to plug into Aux or any other spare socket not phono.
