I read that 5.1 audio outputs through HDMI - so far so good. My spinner is sony 760 Bluray which connects to my 'old' AV amp (no HDMI input) via multi channel analogue to get surround sound. Please can someone tell me how I get 5.1 from Humax without Hdmi.If I can't is it worth spending on a new amp just for this especially if I'm right in thinking that 5,1 is only on the HD channels anyway.

Many thanx to anyone who finds time to help

Many thanx but dare i ask more....Is it only the optical, or could i also/alternatively use the digital coax (amp has both). Reason i ask is because i would like to keep connected my older Sony DVD/HDD recorder for archive etc and this has coax digital out.

To PJPro (by?)

See above. Yeh man i'm gutted but have a secret plan. If i also want to add a freeviewhd box to the BDP and the DVD/HDD and the freesat imust have run out of inputs so then I would surely have run out of options

So... any more time to waste?

Cool and thanx. Last one promise.. did u see comment to PJPro ...if i add a freeviewhd set top box i must have run out of inputs and would need a shiny new av receiver?!

Well no, if your amp only has one coaxial and one optical input, then you could always use an optical/coaxial switch to create more inputs

But if you're looking for an excuse to replace your receiver, then of course the answer is, yes
