I Purchased a Humax Foxsat-HDR 320GB recorder. And was told that it is one of the best bits of kit to own for getting freesat but maybe I have got my information wrong about this unit. But I cant get Sky 3 / Sky news or Sky sports news SD on the foxsat at all. I have tried a retune twice but to no avail. I can get the three Sky channels on my freeview box and was wondering why I cant get them on my Foxsat box. I do have a Sky HD+ box in another room and both the humax and the Sky HD+ box use the same dish. So maybe someone could enlighten me about this little problem,

Yours

Sky Sports News is an subscription channel(on satellite) and Sky 3 is an FTV channel (Free To View, which although free is encrypted,so can't be viewed without a Sky box/viewing card). So neither are available on Freesat!

Sky news isn't available on the Freesat EPG, but is an FTA(free to Air) channel, so can be received in "Non-Freesat" mode...

I now have had the freesat+ box now for sometime and although it does what it says on the tin its not the wonder kid of high def television. With quite abit missing from it tranmissions I only wish the retailers would explain this fully when they come to sell this unit to the unwary! If I buy a freeview box it tells me on the outside of the box what I can expect to get when it is attached to my tv. This is only a mute point but a valid one none the less

Quite a bit missing from transmissions as compared to what?

Not really sure what you were expecting from a free/non-subscription service!

But a little bit of research before buying into Freesat, would have revealed the service they provide/channel line-up etc..

Was thinking exactly the same myself. It is free so you won't get everything that sky gives you.
