How to add ITV HD to Sky+HD via new EPG

I'm spending Good Friday a) suffering from a revolting cold and b) getting to grips with the new Sky+HD EPG.

Have just added ITV HD (not that there's anything on at the moment..). Here's how:

Hit the TV guide button on the remote

Scroll along the top menu and select the Options menu (one that looks like a Cluedo head!)

Select the Add Channels menu

Scroll down so 'Frequency' is highlighted - then hit the red button and change the GHz to '11.427'

Change the polarisation to 'H'

Symbol rate (Mbaud) = 27.5

FEC = 2/3

Then hit the yellow button to 'Find Channels'

ITV HD is channel 10510 - add that and save it.

To watch ITV HD, you need to go back to the 'Options' menu; 'Other Channels' and select 10510. And there you go!

Even when there's nothing on, you should get an ITV HD holding screen, like this:

OK, so it looks like I won't be able to pause/rewind/record ITV HD, but it's going to make watching live Champions League/FA Cup football a WHOLE lot better

When did you get the new epg? I'am still waiting for it to appear, Everyday i'ts like will it be there? and No i'ts not.

Oh well just have to keep waiting.

Tried this myself.

No channel 10510 for ITV HD.

Should this work for all boxes?

So long as your STB has been updated with the new EPG yeah!

I got it yesterday - still getting used to it, but have already set up (under the Options menu) for the TV Guide to highlight native HD shows. Nice

I undestood sky began with updating clients who had had HD the longest.

If thats the case those who have already been upgraded how long have you had HD? Maybe able to get an idea when I may see the new EPG.

I've had my the new epg for 4 days now and I can say its quite an improvement over the old epg. Adding ITV HD was a breeze though I haven't been able toto add it to my favourite channels yet.

Sort of. The original Sky HD boxes were Thomson designs, and it's Thomson boxes that are getting the EPG first.

But for some time now it's pot-luck which box you get when you subscribe (the Sky+HD boxes now come from a range of manufacturers - including Pace and Samsung), so there could be Sky+HD users from two years ago or two weeks ago who happen to have the new EPG simply because they're using a certain type of Thomson box....

What box model/version number do you have? I'm a 4E3006 and am trying to figure out when mine will get blasted with newness.

OK, it's a Thomson version no: 4E3004

(To find out your box's version number, go to the Settings menu of the guide).

Mine's a Thompson 4E3011 - are all Thompson boxes being done first or only certain versions ?

And is the new EPG installed via your dish or phone line (as my telephone line isn't connected at the moment) ?

Thanks Clare - nice job - ÿthis worked first time. I was an early adopter for HD so my box got the new EPG over a week ago. Just seeing the logo right now though.

ÿAnyone know how to move ITV HD to the main programmes area, or enable record etc.ÿ?

It can only feature as an 'other' channel, it can't be formally added to the EPG.

Finally got more than the logo ÿ- Jurassic Park III on ITV HD on Easter Monday with no trouble. Live viewing only, still as an "other channel", good if not fab PQ. Given the low level of HD programming on Freesat the incentive to switch from SKY just went down another small notch.

AFAIK, this only works on the Thomson boxes with the new EPG at the moment

Well, I'm so glad I did this - the difference between watching the football on ITV HD compared to the SD channel is immense. (Superb match, too

Yes - I'd say that the PQ was more than a match for Sky Sports. ÿThere seemed to be slightly more colour saturation and contrast to me, but it might just be my imagination.
