How Can A STB Output At 1080p?

There is an option on my Icecrypt T2200 HD box to output at 1080p. How can/does it do this?

I think Sizzers is referring to broadcast HD not being 1080p. I guess it just upscales much like my BD player does when I'm watching DVDs.

I think you'll have to experiment to see if there's a noticeable difference in the box upscaling to 1080p or whether it looks better in its native 1080i/720p.
 
Thanks Chris. My confusion is how an interlaced image can be converted in to a progressive one, or am I missing the point?

By de-interlacing, it's a pretty standard feature, Sky boxes do it for SD images (converting 576i to 576p).
