I'm upgrading my old Yamaha 592 for a Yamaha 763 (when I can get hold of one), but want to know the best option for speakers.

I've currently got 5 x Mission 73's (no sub).

Obvious choice all-in-one seems to be QAcoustics 1010i for price/writeup but I've got it into my head ...

  • Front speakers on stands will be a health hazard (kids+wii=disater)
  • Speaker stands seem to be a rip off price wise
  • My Missions would be okay as rear/sides to give 7.1

So, with that in mind I've been looking at just getting some floorstanders ... Mission M33s and a sub ... Wharfedale Diamond SW150?

Given my room is (WxD) is 4m x 3.5m, and my budget is around £400 - are floorstanders/sub worth getting, or too much for my room? Am I better getting the QAcoustics, or buying some better quality fronts which will lessen the need for a sub?

I think with a budget of £400 it might be worth going down the Mission M33i route with a decent subwoofer. You can always upgrade the remaining speakers when funds allow. The floorstanders are great ( I have a pair) and with a decent sub and new Yammy you'll be amazed at the sound difference.
