Hi, Have bought a Panasonic SC-BT222 system and have set it up with Panasonic TV TX-32LZD85. However cannot get TV sound out of the new speakers (is that just not possible?) and all the HD channels, BBC HD etc now have no sound; what have I done wrong?

Apologises for delay, internet been down.

Have you connected the TV to virgin box with HDMI? if so you will need to feed the optical out of the tv to the home cinema as i believe it has no HDMI in.

Or if the Virgin box has optical out feed it from there to the home cinema rather than from the TV.

Dear Paul,

You should normally connect "HDMI out" from Virgin to one of the HDMI inputs of the SC-BT222 AV system, and the HDMI-out of the AV sytem to HDMI 1 on your TV.

Is your TV ARC (Audio Return Channel) compatible? If so, you could wire it the way you have, and enjoy sound from both your Virgin Box and TV on the AV system, as your AV system has only one HDMI output port(ARC compatible though). However, this may have to be manually turned on in some menu settings on your TV.
