Hi need some advice, just got the Onkyo 606 connected to my PS3 expecting to see Dolby True HD or DTS Master HD displayed when i watch blue rays. But instead i just get the Dolby D display. I only have a 5.1 system is that the problem? or what else should i consider? Also just noticed when i use the DSP modes with music only the front channels are used execpt for all channel stereo that cant be right cant it?

No, the PS3 only outputs these soundtracks as Linear PCM via HDMI, or lesser DD/DTS versions via optical digital.

Yes, go to BD/DVD Settings, then change the BD/DVD Audio Format (HDMI) setting to Linear PCM for Blu-Rays with any hi-def format soundtrack. For any discs using standard Dolby Digital / DTS 5.1, change this setting back to Bitstream as this will optimise these soundtracks.

Hi am having the same problem aswell but when i turn my PS3 to linear PCM my onkyo 606 only display's PCM multichannel HDMI, not the HD surround mode.

Do I assume that the 606 is outputting the HD surround ?

Or am i missing something in the set up of the PS3 or the reciever ?

PLEASE HELP it is doing my head in

The Onkyo displays PCM Multichannel as that is what it's receiving. With the PS3, the HD audio formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD are decoded onboard and then streamed out as PCM. So it's working exactly as it should.

If you hit the display button on your PS3 remote you will see that the film is playing your DTS HD MA or TruHD audio.

With the Panasonic the audio is displayed on the actual amp/reciever.
