I read your comments and found them vey useful , Hope you can reply to me for my question .

I own the Proac Studio 140MK2 and I want to upgrade my Roksan Kandy K2 . I do feel that my amp lacks the final touch of a good amp .

I heard the Rotel RC1580 + RB1582 pre/power combo at a freind house and was really stunned . the sound was amazing : detailed , punchy

natural and a huge soundstage . What do you think as a match with my Proac ?

What about trying out the k2 power amp and bi amping the Proacs.

It was something I was considering before I changed to active.

Im not sure dropping 2k on a pre / power is the way I'd go. The D18s could show you more return.

So can I assume that your budget is around the £2k mark? When you heard the Rotel combination at your friend's house, which speakers was he using?

Rotel amplification does tend to be quite fast and detailed, not too dissimilar qualities to the 140's with their newer carbon fibre mid/bass drivers. The 1582 has plenty of power so will have no problem keeping a tight grip on the 140's.

I could make other recommendations, but it's always best to go with something you have heard rather than buying blind.

Hi Richard

I am not sure about the D18 , I am not saying that is better or not than the 140MK2 - I think it has a different charcter of sound more warm and

"musical" than the 140MK2 . the 140 is more neutral and the bass is stronger and for me it is a better option .

Hi David ,

Finaly received my Rotel RB1582+RC1580 pre/power combination an excellent chioce indeed great match with the Proac 140MK2 as you advised . sound stage is spectacular and 3D . The bass is exactly as it should be punchy and controled .

The sound is very detailed and natural . The proacs do need the powerful reserves power that the RB1582 is giving them to really shine

Thanks !
