Hi what would you recommend setting the Dip switches when coupled to a Ortofon Quintet Red MC Cartridge, probably unnecessary but the deck is a Proj-ect Evo Classic, A Nad C700 Streamer,a pair of focal 906 speakers & BK P10 150 Gem Sub.
Many thanksIMG202503271549561.jpg

What makes it worse is that the manual also offers
Loading:
Dips 1&2 on = 1.1nF / 33 ohms
Dips 1&3 on= 1.1nF / 100 ohms
Dips 1&4 on= 1.1nF / 1K ohms

Odd, because that's different to what it says on the base, or maybe not....
I would ignore switch 1
However, once you have Gain set correctly, you play with Loading and choose what seems best.

Loosely speaking the ‘loading’ switches turned on to the right is what MC needs, while turned off to the left is for MM. [Your pic shows it set for a low output MM]

S1 represents the capacitance, while S2, 3, and 4 represent the impedance. The former is measured in fractions of a Farad; the latter in Ohms. (Nano is a billionth, hence a lot more than Pico which is a trillionth!)

As Al says, play around as you cannot harm anything. But turn the volume down when switching in case it generates a click or thump.

Ortofons seem to like low impedance, so I’d begin at Dips 1&2 on = 1.1nF / 33 ohms. And S3 for gain, unless that’s too quiet, when S2 will be louder.

Enjoy!
