Hi Guy's

Am new to this and need advice-I have sourced a tv and need to get a system to go with it and want to ensure my money is well spent! This will be set up in my lounge. Now my search began with the bose v30 but i soon realised after hearing this system against others in specialist stores that this was not the right choice. Researching the net i came across the B & W MT30 system and heard this in a store and was impressed. But since then i have heard other views some saying that this system is all about the PV1 sub and others saying it's all about the M1's!? which if either is true??? I also thought perhaps to pair this pakage with the Onkyo TX SR875 as this had also had many good reviews? can anybody begin to give some advice on this please. I am also keen to get a really good blu-ray player to compliment this set up.

Thoughts please.....

Hi, I personally wouldn't match the Onkyo ( now and 876 ) to the B&W's. The forawrd sound of the Onkyo matched with that of the B&W's might be a bit over bearing. If you are stuck on the speakers try the Yamaha range of amps. If you like the amp then try KEF 3005's

How big is your room, are you using the system for music as well as movies?

Yes i would use for music as well-I actually have a linn sondek lp12 that i need to get checked over I inherited it 4 years ago with a pair of mission speakers and naim amp and it has only been set up once. Sounded fantastic.

The room is about 18" by 12" and the set up would have to go across the room (12")

I know of at least one person who would disagree with you! Make sure you audition this setup before disregarding it.

Ok, so two slightly differing opinions but thanks for the input. I may just have to go in store and see if i can get the system tested with different amps. Any other input from you guys would be really appreciated as it's a big decision and one i'm keen to get right.

I would amagine that the Onkyo would be fine, but with so many options, try Yamaha, Denon and Sony to see what you prefer. As for the sub it's a good sub, but for £900 you can get better value.
