Help - streaming music = insomnia & alcoholism...

As a fellow Irish resident Max, I am keen to try out Spotify but find it unavailable...how are you getting around this availability issue ??!

you need to use a proxy server to hide your ip address, then once you have opened a spotify account (start with spotify open) you log in, and download the app...

you will need a little help from someone in a spotify "country" to help you upgrade to premium though..

no, but use a uk postcode if asked, w127rj is fine. once you've opened the account, close the tab, then go to spotifys website as normal, and log in, then scroll down to the bottom of the page where you can download it, by clicking on mac or windows..

edit....when you are first taken to spotify, click on get spotify, then "open"...

Got an Apple TV yesterday and am streaming iTunes and Spotify to the hi fi through it.

I just can't go to bed! Being able to listen to almost anything with a couple of clicks is amazing. I was trying to turn in a couple of hours ago (2 yr old boy and 5 week old girl who have zero respect for weekend lie in) but this darn thing is keeping me up!

I was also just going to have a glass of wine but I've nearly emptied a whole bottle.... doh!

Incidentally Max, when it comes to going premium, which I inevitably will even after just a short evening introduction, is there any special considerations for us here in Ireland regarding payment and our specific route to access it ??!!

rd, you will need a little help upgrading to premium, they won't accept payment from either a credit card or paypal unless the card or account is registered in one of the countries that spotify operate in..

now if you knew somebody in the uk that has a credit card or paypal account then you could ask them to either upgrade the account themselves or send you some e gift vouchers so that you can do it..

anyone that has a spotify premium account can use it anywhere in the world. btw, your spotify open account is limited to 20 hours a month, that will fly so i'd get my thinking cap on

Has anyone used Spotify through the Sonos system? i have the free account on the pc and have had no problems with it. I tried the free trial of Napster on the Sonos and the connection was slow at finding songs and letting you skip tracks. It would sometimes not let you connect to the servers. I'm thinking of upgrading Spotify but don't want the same issues as Napster on the Sonos. We have Sky broadband and get around 6.5 to 7.5 meg speed nearly all the time.

Another convert/victim to the Spotify Premium/Airfoil insomnia trap, here.

Late-night tipple of choice is hot chocolate mixed with a healthy splash of brandy or calvados, plus an expertly poured layer of cream on top. (Actually, I'm lying, it's a squirt of double-cream from one of those naff aerosol thingys.)
