Hello,

I recently purcahsed some Focal Aria 948 and I also bought banana plug connections to connect to my Amp, however here in France, the banana plug sockets on the back of the speakers are covered with little plastic stoppers. Can I remove these? as they don't look like they can be removed...

I have put two links below to how I thought they would look and second link is how they actually arrived. I was just unsure as it says in the manual 'The aria 900 speaker provide multi purpose contacts for stripped cables up to 4mm or fork terminals. Banana Jacks are covered for compliance with electrical and connestion standards in force in some countries. Do not remove the plastic covers'.

Yes, remove them: either prise them out using a small flatblade screwdriver between the other plastic ring and the inner plastic 'stopper', or use a pair of needle-nose pliers to pull out the little central plastic piece.

Thanks spiny norman,

Thats great news, I just wasnt sure whether to do that or not as I thought it might have damaged them. Thank you very much, I will do that as soon as I get home from work :)

Yes you can lever them out. They are only there because of some idiotic European law. ;-)

I have a pair of Focal 936s, and the first thing that I did was remove those little stoppers.

The speakers are still working fine - but of course i have to continually control my compulsions to insert mains power plugs into the banana sockets.

I did think about getting a pair of the 948s instead, but they would have been overkill for my system. This was partly because I was unsure as to whether my AV amp would be powerful enough to drive them. As it turns out, i discovered last weekend that even my old Arcam Solo neo has enough power to easily drive the speakers.
