Hi, just joined as im in the hunt for a new TV, so this week ive been starting my research. I'll be looking for a few opinions shortly as im just getting into the Smart TV technology as its been 5 yrs since i bought my last tv.

Im 35 and live in central scotland

As a minimum, you need to decide on two things: budget and screen size. After that you can consider whether your new television will be used mainly for:

1. Watching normal broadcast television programmes- if so, will that be in standard definition or in HD;

2. Watching 2D films;

3. Watching 3D films;

4. Gaming.

All of these four things will be further modified depending on whether you will be in a fairly bright room or in a darkened room with the curtains and blinds drawn.

The answers to all these will steer you towards some models and away from others.

When you've decided on all that, you can tackle world peace!
