Headphones that can give you that surround sound feel?

I've recently bought a PS3 and have played in amazement as the surround sound adds to this experience - especially in games such as Call of Duty 4 where you can tell the direction from which your enemy approaches! My problem now is that I want to play late into the night without keeping the family awake with the constant rattle of gunfire echoing throughout the house. So, can anyone recommend me a good set of headphones that can give me that surround sound experience? I'm sitting about 4m away from screen so if anyone can recommend a decent extension cable aswell then that would be great. I recently got hold of a pair of SONY headphones that do DTS and they were great, for headphones.
