I'm torn between 55JS8500 display model for £1150 inc 5 yr warranty or £1499 for 55KS7000 which is HDR, also with 5yr warranty. Read lots about the joys of HDR but in real world and with 3-5 year view, is there going to be any or enough HDR content to make it worth the spend (or even see the difference). Then to confuse further, the 55KU6500 is £1199 with 5 yr warranty - ok not the same level as the KS7000 but similar price as JS8500...help!

For the size of TV, 4K will not be a significant improvement over full HD. HDR has the potential to make a significant difference if used properly. Not enough content out there yet, which hopefully will improve.

Are you sure JS8500 isn't HDR capable? I thought it was, but haven't checked myself.

You can set HDR on for the hdmi inputs but not for streaming services, so won't be able to get Amazon prime or Netflix HDR content, according to my local Samsung specialist reseller. HDR tv, ie sky bbc etc, is a way off yet as is mainstream readily available HDR 4K bluray

Yep, the Samsung 8500 is HDR compatible by a firmware update.

Mine did hdr out the box i believe. As it was hdr via hdmi that was done by update. I would go for the 1000 nit model. Wish i had the extra brightness! But for that price well worth the js8500. I paid 1468 and its worth that to me.

Regarding the hdr it depends on the disc. The best hdr content is amazing spiderman man 2 so far from my collection which is better than the rest combined. Plus none of the others match it brightness wise to look realistic which hdr is all about.

But if you wait a few months the KS7000 will probably fall in price. Then you can have your cake and eat it!

The KU6500 isn't up to the same standard as the JS8500, even if it reads HDR source material.
