Hi all

Music takes up most of our time but occassionally watch dvd's using a sony DVD home theatre system (DAV-DZ361W) connected to our Samsung HD TV using aHDMI cable and optical cable. Have decided it is now time for some television as well and are considering a Humax Freesat PVR but the tv only has one HDMI socket so how do I connect the humax and receive tv with sound via the sony home theatre. Have been told a splitter and then a switcher and am totally confused. Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Does your samsung TV only have 1 HDMI in? If so:

Option1
Run an optical out from the humax to the DAV system, HDMI from the Humax to TV direct and scart from DAV to TV ( as the DAV is only DVD, let the TV do the scaling), or the other way round, which ever produces the best result in picture quality.

Option 2
Run an optical out from humax to DAV system, HDMI from Humax and DAV to a 2:1(two in one out switchable) and 1 HDMI into the TV. You need to ensure you get the right HDMI switcher.

I would be surprised if your TV does not have 2 HDMI inputs, if so HDMI from each of the Humax and DAV to TV and optical from Humax to DAV.
