Media file size growth continues to increase the need for bandwidth, but financial implications can be surprisingly convoluted. More about the impact of 8K!
Are you surprised? Of course 8K adoption will take absolute ages and it doesn't make any sense to buy an 8K TV at the moment, certainly not over the next couple of years.
I thought it might have made its way onto OLED TVs the way it has on LCDs. By that I mean at reasonable pricing. Just seems to be dead and stuck at the moment. We still have some cracking 8K TVs but I guess they will never be able to use as 8K TVs.
8k at the moment feels like the industry trying to create turnover where's there's no real demand. By the time 8k becomes affordable screens will have improved, so all you'll be getting is tomorrow's resolution at yesterday's picture quality levels. An unattractive proposition, I think.
